HANetf and Infrastructure Capital Advisors launch Nuclear Renaissance ETF in Europe

  • HANetf and Infrastructure Capital Advisors have partnered to launch Nuclear Renaissance UCITS ETF (NUKZ).
  • The ETF aims to capture companies that are driving the nuclear renaissance, across four segments of nuclear power: fuel, construction and services, advanced reactors, and utilities.
  • Demand for energy is accelerating – driven by electrification, AI infrastructure, and rising cooling needs – and nuclear has the potential to offer a compelling combination of reliability and zero-emission generation.
  • Achieving energy security is essential for Europe and nuclear energy could play a significant role in that objective.
  • The ETF tracks the VettaFi Nuclear Renaissance Index.
  • The ETF is listed on Xetra and Borsa Italiana, with London Stock Exchange to follow.

HANetf, Europe’s first and leading white-label UCITS ETF and ETC platform,[1] is delighted to announce the launch of Nuclear Renaissance UCITS ETF (ticker: NUKZ) in partnership with Infrastructure Capital Advisors.

The ETF aims to provide exposure to companies that are central to the nuclear renaissance. Exposure is provided through a diversified mix of global nuclear companies involved in four key sectors:

  • Fuel
  • Construction and Services
  • Advanced Reactors
  • Utilities

Uniquely, the NUKZ ETF is designed to capture the full breadth of the nuclear ecosystem – rather than relying predominantly on uranium producers. This includes companies involved in uranium enrichment and fuel processing, reactor construction and engineering, next-generation nuclear technologies such as small modular reactors (SMRs), and utilities operating nuclear power plants.

While some nuclear strategies focus more directly on uranium producers and commodity price dynamics, NUKZ takes a broader, value chain-driven approach. This aims to reflect the multiple drivers of growth within the nuclear sector – from long-term infrastructure development and policy support to technological innovation and expanding generation capacity.

By providing exposure across the nuclear lifecycle, NUKZ offers a differentiated way to access the structural growth of nuclear energy, potentially complementing more commodity-focused allocations within the space.

HANetf has demonstrated experience in the nuclear and uranium space, with three such products already on the platform with a combined $470.55 million in assets under management (AUM).[2]

The global energy landscape is undergoing a structural shift, with nuclear power re-emerging as a critical component of future electricity systems. As demand for power accelerates – driven by electrification, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and rising cooling needs – nuclear has the potential to offer a compelling combination of reliability and almost zero-emission generation.[3]

Unlike intermittent renewables, nuclear operates at consistently high capacity, often exceeding 90%, and benefits from long asset lifespans.[4]

At the same time, geopolitical developments, particularly Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the recent conflict around the Strait of Hormuz, have underscored the strategic importance of energy security, prompting countries to prioritise stable, domestically controlled energy sources.[5] With fuel that can be stored on-site for extended periods and sourced globally, nuclear may provide a resilient alternative to more volatile energy supply chains.

As such, the US committed last year to quadruple nuclear capacity by 2050, citing “national security” as one of the key reasons behind the plan.[6]

Moreover, the development of small modular reactors (SMRs) potentially presents an exciting opportunity for nuclear power. Despite being in developmental stage, SMRs have gained attention given that they can be produced in a factory setting or replicated multiple times, forcing costs down and increasing efficiencies.[7] In addition, SMRs have small footprints, allowing them to be sited at retired coal plants or even put underground, mitigating risks from attack or natural disasters. Both technology companies and developing nations could benefit from SMRs, both for data centre power and utilitarian power generation.

The ETF is being launched in partnership with Infrastructure Capital Advisors, which has $3.64 billion in AUM across its US product range.[8] Infrastructure Capital first entered the European UCITS ETF market last year with the launch of the actively managed Infrastructure Capital Preferred Income UCITS ETF (ticker: PFFI).

Jay Hatfield, CEO and CIO at Infrastructure Capital Advisors, commented: “We believe it’s an opportune time for global investors to increase their exposure to real assets and energy investments. We are excited to offer an investment solution that can also help facilitate clean energy formation through a diversified portfolio of energy and infrastructure related companies. We will utilise our energy and infrastructure expertise and risk management process in support of the fund’s objectives.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with HANetf to offer this innovative investment product so investors can timely position their portfolios to energy and infrastructure exposure and benefit under various market environments.”

Hector McNeil, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of HANetf, commented: “We’re delighted to be launching Nuclear Renaissance UCITS ETF (NUKZ) with Infrastructure Capital Advisors.

“Demand for power is rising globally, given the emergence of power-hungry AI data centres and the growth of electrification. Nuclear is increasingly being recognised as a source of safe, clean, and reliable power.

“At the same time, heightened geopolitical tensions – including the recent conflict between Iran, Israel and the U.S. – has highlighted the importance of energy security. Nuclear power has the potential to provide this much needed security and protect against the energy shocks we have been seeing in recent years.”
