Harnessing Europe’s plans for strategic autonomy and self-sufficiency
Europe’s defence and resilience drive
Europe is investing over €800 billion through ReArm Europe and Readiness 2030 to strengthen defence autonomy and supply-chain resilience. Coordinated EU strategies aim to boost domestic production, critical infrastructure, and strategic independence.
Industrial renewal and energy security
Record defence and infrastructure spending, reshoring initiatives, and clean-energy investments are transforming Europe’s industrial base – driving growth, innovation, and long-term competitiveness across key strategic sectors.
Responsible exposure
The strategy applies strict sustainability screens in line with SFDR Article 8, excluding controversial weapons, coal, and tobacco – offering investors access to Europe’s rebuild and rearmament themes through a responsible, future-focused lens.
Making Europe Great Again UCITS ETF (GR8) aims to provide targeted exposure to companies positioned to benefit from Europe’s drive toward greater economic resilience and self-sufficiency.
The ETF provides equal-weighted exposure to four strategic market segments: European Defence, European Energy, European Infrastructure, and European Reshoring.

No. of holdings: 40
The index selects up to 40 equally weighted companies, with a maximum of 10 from each of the following segments: defence, energy, infrastructure, and nearshoring. Within each segment, the top 10 companies are chosen based on a combined ranking of market capitalisation and average daily trading volume, ensuring that each constituent is both significant in scale and sufficiently liquid.
To qualify for inclusion, companies in the defence, energy, and infrastructure segments must derive more than 50% of their revenue from core thematic activities.
Defence includes manufacturers and developers of military equipment, aerospace systems, weapons, and defence technologies.
Energy encompasses firms involved in exploration, production, and distribution, while infrastructure covers those that build, manage, or operate essential assets.
All companies within the nearshoring universe are eligible for inclusion.
The index applies ESG and human rights filters to ensure responsible exposure. Companies must comply with the UN Global Compact and OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. Those involved in controversial weapons, thermal coal, or tobacco (over 5% of revenue) are excluded.
Constituents are equally weighted, with a buffer rule in place to maintain stability – existing members remain in the index if their final rank stays within the top 42 positions.
