Tech Megatrends ETF Report | September 2026

Equal Weight ETF Key Takeaways

  • ITEK gained in August with a +5.2% improvement.
  • Year-to-date gains are +12.3% (as of 31.08.2026).
  • 2026 YTD, the strongest themes are AI & Robotics +49.5%, Cybersecurity +30.7%, Genomics +19.7% and Future Cars +11.6%. The weakest themes 2026 YTD are Quantum -21.3%, Cloud Computing -12.3% and Digital Entertainment -11.3%.
  • Rotations away from AI, and into software and semiconductors were part of the reason for August gains.
  • We believe that the Tech stock’s premium remains unusually small relative to the overall US market.
  • We believe the forth coming 3rd quarter tech earnings will remain relatively healthy, and in some cases exceed estimates.
  • Global Diversification within the fund helps to limit downside – US 65.7%, China 7.8%, Japan 6.3%, Australia and South Korea 2.1%.
  • Fund’s P/E has maintained an average in the low 20s – which is an competitive valuation level.
  • ITEK’s valuation levels remain competitive, well below Nasdaq and Mag7 levels.
  • Top 10 holdings represent only 14.3% weight versus Nasdaq’s narrowness which exceeds 50% for the top 10.[1]
  • The best July themes were Cybersecurity +12.9%, Genomics +9.2%, Defence Tech +9.6%, and Blockchain +6.8%. It is worth noting that Social Media saw a decline of -2.31%, while AI & Robotics gained just +1.0%.[2]
  • ITEK is positioned for a potential broad Tech rally, beyond Mega-Caps, partly because sizeable M&A activity is increasing.
  • Fast adoption of AI is boosting Cloud Computing, AI & Cybersecurity spend, as data centre build out becomes one of the largest infrastructure buildouts in modern history.[3]
  • Equal weight across 10 subthemes (15 leading holdings per theme).
  • The fund’s diversified equal weight seeks to ensure ITEK benefits from Global Tech convergence and potential gains.

Past performance is not indicative of future performance and when you invest in ETFs your capital is at risk.

Macro Outlook

  • The recent strong jobs report and stubborn inflation lead us to believe that the Fed will increase rates.
  • The US economy remains resilient with GDP growth expected to be +2%.[4]
  • This potential growth could be seen as a tailwind for continued US Tech spending and earnings going into the second half of 2026.
  • Tech rotation continues beyond the Mag7, despite the August recovery.
  • AI Convergence across Tech is positive for Cloud, Social Media, Gaming, Future Cars & Cybersecurity.
  • Almost $3tn of AI spending is expected within the decade, boosting Cloud spending to $3.5tn+.[5]
  • Impressive 2026 tech earnings – may remain at relatively low P/E ratio multiples.
  • Tech valuations remain well below levels of the 2000 Internet Bubble, and firms are far better capitalised.[6]
  • Trump Presidency is lowering taxes, introducing large fiscal stimulus which Capex benefits from, and is helping to boost Tech M&A.
  • AI Security concerns meant there was Cybersecurity stock volatility in both August and September.
  • With several high-profile instances of leading AI officials airing concerns about AI security, there was sizeable cybersecurity stock volatility in August.[7]
  • Tech broad-based Index investing remains prudent (owning entire haystack, instead of a few Tech needles).
  • We believe the Tech Megatrends ETF, may warrant further consideration given its broad global exposure beyond the Mag7.
  • US Treasury yields surged to multiyear highs; 10yr rate at 5%.[8]
  • AI datacenter buildout – pushing up prices for consumer electronics.
  • Following the precedent set by Space X, more Tech related IPOs are expected.
  • Anthropic and OpenAI – the Tech revolution appears to be converging around 3 large IPOs.
  • Tech M&A activity is continuing – more AI acquisitions, and buildout.
  • Anthropic is enterprise focused, at breakeven now. Expected to be the next $1 trillion AI IPO, and backed by Nvidia and Amazon.
  • OpenAI’s IPO is possibly delayed as it remains unprofitable. It is consumer focused and backed by Microsoft.
